Thankful Day 2009

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!!!

We have so much to be thankful for. Below I took a shot at listing the the many blessings I have in my life. Happy Turkey Day!

My 2009 Thankful List:
  1. Hearing a little voice call for “mama” and/or “mommy” and knowing that I’m the one being called. Everyday I’m thankful that I’m a mom! There is nothing, absolutely nothing better!!
  2. Our healthy, happy, intelligent, energetic little girl, Brooke!
  3. A helpful, caring, thoughtful, supportive, wonderful husband. As as added bonus he loves to cook and is very good at it! Yes, I do realize how very lucky I am!
  4. The pleasant experience I have being a step mom – I am truly grateful for kind step kids!
  5. I'm am very grateful for my entire family, my many friends and friends that are like family. Some of you I see or talk with often, others I see once or twice a year and some I haven't seen in years, but you ALL mean the world to me!
  6. Fabulous Kuddly Kids Childcare with wonderful caring, nurturing child care teachers Thanks a ton Ms Jenny, Ms Ashley, Ms Kristen, Ms Vicky, Ms Candace and all the other teachers that have helped with Brooke’s care! You guys rock!
  7. My job! Yes, I said it! Despite the heavy workload, long hours and many stressful days, I am grateful I have a job that provides a nice paycheck. The vast experience and knowledge gained over the years will prove valuable as new opportunities present themselves.
  8. Nickelodeon Jr. & PBS. Oh, how I thank you dear creators of Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, Ni hao Kai lan, Super Why, Dinasour Train, Curious George, Sid the Science Kid...Thanks for all the wonderful shows that grab the attention of my active little girl (if only for 15 minutes) so I take time to do a few chores, make a phone call, pay bills, do something for work or make dinner. It's amazing the amount I can get done in 15 minutes!
  9. Our house Mike and I (Willard and Zach) built together. Every once in a while we think (for less than a second) about downsizing and moving closer to town. But it would be too hard to walk away from a home that represents a true family effort, wonderful memories and lake access.
  10. Yes, I'm thankful for lake access!
  11. Our doggies – 9 year old Rudy, 9 year old Jiffi. What joy (and tears) they brought into our house.
  12. All done with "Nursey"!! Thank God for lemons!!
  13. Good health and health insurance!
  14. The experience we had living next to my mother-in-law for over 4 years. We miss her every day!
  15. A beautiful step-grandson, Cody who can call me “Kate”. (The thought of being called grandma at 30- "something" years old makes me feel oddly old)
  16. E-mail & Facebook - my main ways to to communicate and keep in touch with family and friends
  17. Blogspot - a convenient way to share events and capture memories & milestones.
  18. Summertime - may it arrive soon! It's going to be fun one in 2010! I can feel it!!
  19. A wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner hosted yet another year by Mark & Mike. It's a tradition we look forward to every year. Great food & Great company! Thank-you!!! Thank-you!! Thank-you!!

My thankful list could go on and on, but I need to work out, (thank-you exercise bike!!) so I can experience large quantities of wonderful food! Enjoy your Turkey Day!!

Thanks for reading the blog! Come again!

Brooke Obsession #2

November 22, 2009

Brooke has this obession.

I've heard about this obsession women have...

I didn't think it started this young!!

SHOES!!!

Brooke loves shoes!

Thanks to cousin Aubrey's hand-me-downs, she has plenty to choose from!

Every morning we go through this "discussion" on what shoes she should wear or should I say, what shoes she insists on wearing.

She has her favorites!

RUBY RED SLIPPERS (aka "dancing shoes")

Purple Flip Flops!

No, it doesn't seem to matter that it's getting cold outside! She "needs" her "purple shoes"!

What are we in for down the teenage road??? We are in no hurry to find out!

Mug Shot??

Click on the picture for a closer look!

November 14, 2009 - Brooke's school picture proof came back this week! Wow! What a face! Gotta love it! Classic Brooke! She never really likes to have her picture taken, but this one takes the cake. The teachers and photographer tried their best, but Brooke just wouldn't smile. She plain didn't want to be in the spot light. The picture turned out looking more like one of those celebrity mug shots. Maybe even something you'd see on a WANTED poster. May have to consider retakes this year....but at least we have this one photo to show her future boyfriends! "Don't mess with me, especially on picture day!"

Semi-Circle

November 9, 2009 - As you may have read before, Brooke knows all the basic shapes; circle, triangle, square, oval, rectangle etc. A couple months ago her teacher, Ms Ashley, added another shape to the list: “semi-circle”. Both Mike and I work with her and take advantage of her love for sidewalk chalk to review her shapes and colors in a fun way! Over the weekend we’ve come to realize just how much she understands. On Sunday Brooke and I took a walk down the road to explore. Among other things, she pointed out the moon (which happened to be a half moon that day) as she has many times before, but this time our conversation went something like this:

“Look Mama, that’s the moon” she says as she points to the sky.
“Yep, that’s right Brooke. That is the moon” I say.
Brooke then continues with “It’s a semi-circle moon, mama”

The semi-circle moon in the early morning

I was truly amazed that my two year old observed that all on her own! Not just a moon, but a semi-circle moon! Great job Brooke!

What Does A Train Say??

Brooke says: "CHOO-CHOOO!!!!"
